DSSOLVR

In-House Design

As the in-house production designer for DSSOLVR, a fun, weird, and surreal brewery based in Asheville, NC, I am responsible for creating labels for our products, designing event materials, crafting social media content, and developing merchandise. Additionally I take part in the planning of our marketing strategies and monthly events. Working at DSSOLVR has been a truly rewarding experience. The company’s unique brand and approach has allowed me to push the boundaries and develop a diverse set of skills in various areas such as 3D, motion, and AI design. My experience working with DSSOLVR has been a great experience and has led to me being a more confident and capable designer.

Label Design

I have been lucky enough to design labels for the products created by DSSOLVR. Designing labels not only allows me to exercise my creative thinking skills but also gives me the chance to explore various design tools like artificial intelligence, 3D software, and tangible techniques such as drawing and scanner manipulations. It's always a shock to see the labels I designed in stores and restaurants and it gives me a thrill every time I see them there.

Invitation to Love

Invitation to Love is an extra special bitter ale brewed by DSSOLVR, to celebrate the wedding of one of our brewers and their partner. They wanted the label to have a vintage romance novel aesthetic featuring the couple's likeness. Despite being new to this technique, I decided to use artificial intelligent image generation along with image compositing to create this design.

Stable Diffusion, DreamBooth, Photoshop & Lots of Googling

To design the vintage romance label I used a combination of Stable Diffusion and prompts to establish the base of the design. The unpredictable nature of AI generation required me to continuously generate and test different variations of descriptions until I found things that worked. Images would come out warped, morphed, melded and strange, so once I found the right model base, I took bits and pieces from other images to form a cohesive design. From there I expanded the background to match the size of our label, then used a DreamBooth model of the couple to match them into the overall design style. Once the main design was set I composited backgrounds, textures, label information, and touch ups in Photoshop. This was a completely new experience that required a lot of experimenting, but it was an absolute blast to work on.

Video and Motion Graphics

Below are examples of video and motion graphics work I created to promote some of our upcoming products. Through these projects, I gained hands-on experience using Blender, which was initially daunting but ultimately rewarding. It gave me a diverse set of skills and experiences that I am proud of.

At DSSOLVR, we create custom marketing materials for every beer we brew and event we host. This includes posters, social media assets, website promos, and taproom menus. The following are a few examples of my favorite promotions and events.

Promotional Design

Product Promos for Tv Displays

In the taproom, we showcase our latest beers, wines, and events through a slideshow displayed on multiple TVs. Every week, it's my responsibility to refresh the slides and create engaging promotions. My goal is to convey the essence of each product while also injecting some fun into the designs. I use a mix of design techniques ranging from the usual tools like Photoshop and Illustrator to photography, scanned textures, and 3D assets.

Event Promos

We create a variety of custom promotional designs for the events we host in our taproom. Each event requires a unique poster design that is utilized for various promotional purposes, such as social media posts, stories, videos, thumbnails, banners, menus, and more. In addition to designing promotional materials, I am also involved in the event planning. One event that I am particularly proud to have played a part in is Shrektoberfest. A Shrek themed Oktoberfest with games such as the onion toss and a Smash Mouth heavy playlist.
